5 tips to build a culture of wellness

Our Best Health manager shares great ways to put well-being first.

A healthy company culture can transform your workplace. When individuals feel supported socially, physically, financially and emotionally, they'll thrive at work and are more likely to stay with their employers. So, how can you build a culture of wellness in your workplace? Our Best Health® wellness manager, Julie Vargas, shares five actionable ways you can prioritize well-being.

1

Start with a wellness program.

“Implementing a program like Best Health is a great way to incorporate wellness into your overall company culture,” Vargas says. “Our program takes a holistic approach to wellness that lets members focus on what's important to them.”

Members benefit from a variety of program offerings, including:

  • A Wellness Assessment for health insights and personalized results
  • Interactive activities, like wellness challenges and our Healthy Living Programs
  • One-on-one support with health coaching
  • ¡Y mucho más!

Getting started is easy — all they'll need to do is create or log in to their Best Health account.

2

Set aside time to work toward healthy goals.

“Commit to a daily, weekly or monthly goal as individuals or as a team,” Vargas says. “There are so many ways to incorporate wellness into the work day: Schedule a meeting breaks, check out a wellness webinar, or plan a team building activity.”

Once you have a list of goals, company-wide involvement is key to keep moving forward. Here's how to do it.

3

Find wellness champions.

Vargas recommends encouraging individuals in leadership roles, such as supervisors or the C-suite, to participate in wellness activities. They can join team members for a challenge, share a personal wellness story, or even send a motivational email. Leaders' participation can help others feel good about joining in.

4

Create a wellness committee.

“Get a group of participants together to help you share wellness program benefits with others and brainstorm new ideas,” Vargas says. “Scheduling a recurring meeting and sharing an agenda will help you stay on track with your goals.”

Like leadership engagement, a wellness committee helps build community and encourages team members across all levels of your organization to get involved.

5

Communicate often.

Keep up the momentum by sharing regular wellness program updates, new challenges and fun features. And don't be shy — send reminders about program offerings, especially if you're seeing low engagement.
